Why Do I need to post to social media?

You are right to ask, because could I not just give you the ebook for free? I could. But I ask you to kindly consider that I am not signed to a big publisher; I do this all as an indie author via self-publishing. This means that I am out hundreds of francs already due to cover design and sample book and so on, not to consider the time it took me to format the ebook. I feel that it is a fair trade to ask you to post on social media in return for a free e-book.

Where should i post?

That is completely up to you. If you post where I am (Bluesky, Mastodon, Pixelfed, or Monnett), you can tag me. If you post on any other social media platform, I kindly ask you to send a screenshot of your post to twrites@bluewin.ch to be eligible for the free ebook.

What does the post have to look like?

Please include an image of the book and a neutral or nice thing to say about it. You can tag me if you like, but don’t have to, see the point above. The picture can include other neutral or positive things like you, your pet, your desk, a tree etc.

I kindly ask you to not use AI in your post.

What will exclude you from being eligible for the free ebook:

  • if you say an overlay negative thing about the book in the post, e.g. “I hated it, do not buy it.”
  • if you are in any way discriminatory or hateful in the post
  • if the picture includes negative, discriminatory or hateful imagery
  • if you do not invest above the bare minimum, i.e. your post is only something like a blurry picture and a text like “Weaving Dawn”

What format will the ebook be?

I can send you an EPUB2 or a PDF. I cannot send you a MOBI file for Kindle or any other format, I am sorry.

how do i get the ebook?

I will send you an e-mail. I will not use your e-mail address for anything else. There will be no further communication initiated from my side, no sign up to a newsletter, nothing.

How fast will I get the ebook?

I will try to reply as fast as possible but please allow for up to a week for me to get back to you. Life can get busy unexpectedly. Should I be on vacation, it can take longer, but I would at least contact you in that case.

If I do not react to your post where you tagged me in a week, feel free to reach out to me per email. I have slumps where I do not check social media.

If I don't need the ebook, can I give it away?

I cannot physically stop you, and if you want to gift it to a friend because you enjoyed it and think that they might, too, you are welcome to do so. All I ask is that you do not distribute the ebook to multiple people. You are strictly prohibited from selling it. All rights remain with me.

Are you really giving me the ebook for free? what's the catch?

No catch. I believe that if you paid for the physical version, giving you the digital version so that you do not always have to lump around the physical version is the right thing to do.
